In this poignant animated special, a young boy in a desolate ghost town meets a wise old creature called the Lorax, who speaks for the trees. The Lorax recounts his own tale of warning a greedy industrialist about the devastating effects of unchecked capitalism on the environment. Based on Dr. Seuss's 1971 children's book, this musical fantasy special was produced by DePatie–Freleng Enterprises and first aired in 1972, offering a powerful message that still resonates today.
