In 1483 England, Richard, the Duke of Gloucester, is driven to madness by his desire for power, brutally murdering his brother George, Duke of Clarence, and framing him for death. His descent into tyranny is marked by a series of gruesome crimes, including the torture and murder of two innocent princes, who are then haunted by their own ghostly retribution. The film's haunting black-and-white visuals only add to the sense of foreboding and dread that hangs over Richard like a shroud, as he navigates his own private hell of guilt and paranoia, ultimately meeting his fate in a bloody and tragic finale at the Battle of Bosworth Field.
