Screen Two The Firm

A British drama about a seemingly respectable estate agent who leads a double life as the head of a vicious and well-organised gang of football hooligans. The Firm, directed by Alan Clarke in 1989, is based on the activities of the Inter City Firm (billed as the "Inter City Crew") football firm of West Ham United during the 1970s and 1980s. Gary Oldman stars in this gritty film that courted controversy on release but has come to be regarded among the finest films on the subject of football hooliganism, notable for its almost complete absence of musical score or diegetic music.
