Two historical incidents that deepened the friendship between Japan and Turkey are connected in this story of friendship and compassion. The sinking of the Turkish frigate Ertuğrul off the Japanese coast in 1890 and the evacuation of Japanese nationals from Iran in 1985 serve as bookends to a powerful narrative of humanity and aid. Through the stories of Seiyo Uchino's Character Name (Tamura), Kenan Ece's Mustafa/Murat, Shioli Kutsuna's Haru/Harumi, and Alican Yücesoy's Bekir, as well as the real-life events that inspired them, this film conveys a message of compassion, sacrifice, and peace.
