A woman awakens on an embalming table in a funeral home after being involved in a car crash to find an enigmatic mortician preparing her for burial. Eliot Deacon, played by Liam Neeson, claims he has the ability to hear the dead and injects Anna Taylor with a fictional drug to "relax the muscles." As Anna tries to escape, she becomes convinced she is actually dead, but ultimately discovers that Eliot's intention was not to kill her, but to teach her about the process of dying.
