Amanat

"Amanat" (2022) is a powerful and poignant love story set against the backdrop of Russia's turbulent military history in the first half of the 19th century. The film tells the tale of Jamalutdin, son of Imam Shamil, who was sent as an amanat to the Russian Empire at just nine years old. As he grows into a young man, Jamalutdin finds himself torn between his duty to his people and honor, and his love for General Olenina's daughter Elisabeth "Lisa", in a historical context marked by the decline of the Nikolaev era and the ongoing Caucasian War.
