La civil

La civil is a 2021 drama film about Cielo, whose teenage daughter is kidnapped in Northern Mexico. When authorities offer no support in the search, Cielo transforms from housewife into a vengeful militant. Directed by Teodora Mihai and starring Arcelia Ramírez as Cielo, the film was selected to compete in the Un Certain Regard section at the 2021 Cannes Film Festival and won the Prize of Courage there.
