The Wound

In the remote Eastern Cape mountains of South Africa, a young factory worker named Xolani joins an annual Xhosa circumcision initiation ceremony to help guide young men through their rite of passage into manhood. Among the initiates is Kwanda, a defiant Johannesburg youth who quickly learns Xolani's secret: he's in love with another man. As tensions emerge between the three, Xolani must navigate the complex web of traditional masculinity and his own desires, all while keeping his unconventional friendship with Vija under wraps.
