The Duel

A well-made atmospheric Western, The Duel boasts Liam Hemsworth as a stalwart protagonist and Woody Harrelson as a superbly nuanced Kurtz-like figure in 1887 Texas border town Mount Hermon. Here, Harrelson plays preacher and mayor Abraham Brant, keeping the townsfolk in a fearful grip, while Kingston - a government agent (Hemsworth) - investigates a series of murders and disappearances of Mexican citizens. The film's tense showdowns and atmospheric setting are complemented by strong supporting performances from Emory Cohen and Alice Braga.
