Emotionally shallow and self-absorbed salesman Lenny Cantrow marries his girlfriend after a short courtship, but finds himself increasingly tires of his new bride's habits during their honeymoon in Miami Beach. He then impulsively courts college-aged heiress Kelly Corcoran, leading to a series of events that leave his new wife heartbroken and his relationship with Kelly fraught with complications, including the disapproval of her protective father. This black comedy explores love, hypocrisy, and character through pointed, subtle humor, grounded by Elaine May's nuanced direction and character-driven storytelling.
