The Sea of Trees

Arthur Brennan (Matthew McConaughey), a troubled teacher, attempts suicide in Japan's Aokigahara Forest and meets Takumi Nakamura (Ken Watanabe), a Japanese man who shares his story of love and redemption after being lost in the woods. The two men share details about their lives, including Arthur's crumbling marriage to Joan Brennan (Naomi Watts) and her struggles with a brain tumor. Through flashbacks, Arthur learns about Takumi's wife and daughter, and how he is helping him heal his guilt over losing them in this purgatory of the forest, leading Arthur to find answers and redemption for himself.
