Starting Out in the Evening

The film follows Leonard Schiller (Frank Langella), a once-celebrated author now forgotten by his readers and literary colleagues, as he is persuaded to share his thoughts and recollections with Heather Wolfe (Lauren Ambrose) for her Master's thesis. Meanwhile, his daughter Ariel (Lili Taylor) navigates her own personal struggles, including a pregnancy and a past relationship with Casey Davis (Adrian Lester), who returns after a five-year absence. As the story unfolds, the four main characters are forced to confront their lives and decide how much they are willing to compromise in order to accommodate others' demands.
