Calvary

Father James Lavelle (Brendan Gleeson), a good-natured priest, accepts confession from an unseen man, a victim of priest sexual abuse, who threatens to murder him unless he puts his affairs in order by next Sunday. As Father James navigates the complexities of his parish and personal life, including encounters with a recovering alcoholic, a businessman struggling with his own demons, and a group of locals grappling with their own moral dilemmas, he must also confront the dark forces closing in around him. Along the way, he finds solace in unlikely places and ultimately discovers that forgiveness is more important than virtue.
