In the turbulent period of World War II in Oulu, northern Finland, school boys are fascinated by war and the German Army soldiers who have arrived, much to their mothers' dismay. Character Jake (Vesa-Matti Loiri) is one of these young men, whose faith and sense of purpose are put to the test as the war comes to an end. The film explores the fragile relationships and unfinished business left behind by the departing Germans, a generation of Finnish boys forever changed by their experiences.
