In 1975, Kinji Fukasaku directed a tense and violent yakuza film that would earn him two Blue Ribbon Awards for Best Director and Best Actor for Bunta Sugawara's performance as Tokumatsu Kuno, a corrupt detective caught in the middle of a gang war between rival gangs. The film follows the story of two yakuza groups, the Kawade family and the Ohara family, who are fighting for control of the city, with Detective Kuno using his position to further his own interests. As tensions escalate, the battle between the gangs, police, and local politicians reaches a boiling point, leading to a violent showdown that will leave only one side standing.
