In 1960s Ireland, two rival youth gangs, the Ballys and the Carricks, engage in an absurd yet intense "war" over buttons from each other's clothing, a tradition that has been passed down for generations. The story follows Fergus, leader of the Ballys, and Geronimo, leader of the Carricks, as their rivalry escalates into all-out battle, with tactics ranging from nude ambushes to tractor-driven destruction. Ultimately, the war ends in defeat for the Carricks, but not before a poignant gesture of solidarity between the two former enemies sets the stage for an unexpected friendship.
