After learning about the gold from a man named Noppera-bo, who was caught and thrown into Abashiri prison but hidden its location in 24 prisoners' tattoos, Sugimoto teams up with Asirpa (Anna Yamada), an Ainu girl seeking vengeance for her father's murder by Noppera-bo.
