Kubo and the Two Strings

In feudal Japan, a young boy named Kubo lives in a seaside mountain cave near a village, hiding from his grandfather, the Moon King, ever since his birth. With only one eye, Kubo wields a magical shamisen and tells stories of legendary samurai warrior Hanzo, but is never able to finish his tale due to his mother's deteriorating mental state and her sisters' threat to harm him. One day, Kubo attends the village's Bon Festival, where he meets Monkey, an anthropomorphic Japanese macaque charm that comes alive to guide him on a quest to defeat his mother's twin sisters, reclaim his father's armor, and uncover the truth about his own magical powers.
