The Secret Diaries of Miss Anne Lister

The film follows Anne Lister (Maxine Peake), a young unmarried woman living in 19th-century Yorkshire, as she navigates her desire for love and independence while juggling an affair with Mariana Belcombe (Anna Madeley). As their relationship is put to the test by Mariana's marriage, Anne begins to think about finding another lover and eventually meets Ann Walker (Christine Bottomley), a woman who shares her desires.
