Happy Face Killer

The 2014 Lifetime film "Happy Face Killer" tells the true story of Keith Hunter Jesperson, a serial killer who murdered at least eight women over a five-year span, taunting authorities with disturbing letters and scribbled confessions signed with a happy face. Jesperson's killing spree began after his failed marriage and an injury that prevented him from joining the Royal Canadian Mounted Police, leading to a cat-and-mouse game with FBI Agent Melinda Gand and Ruskin County Sheriff J.D. Cotton. The film follows the investigation and eventual capture of Jesperson, who was finally apprehended when a young mother came forward to say he assaulted her, and his new fiancée disappeared.
