In a Lower Manhattan industrial loft, a camera very slowly zooms into a photograph on a wall while various people occasionally enter and exit, revealing a nuanced exploration of space and time. As the zoom progresses, the film presents subtle variations in image quality, including monochrome color schemes, extreme light levels, and the introduction of a corpse, whose absence is eventually erased from the frame. The soundtrack combines synchronized sound with an increasingly high-pitched hum that builds to a sonic climax.
