As the clock ticks away for 75-year-old Kristófer, a widower struggling with dementia, he embarks on a journey to retrace his steps from a lifetime ago. Fifty years earlier, Kristófer was a young Icelandic man studying at the London School of Economics, who impulsively applied to work as a dishwasher at a Japanese restaurant owned by chef Takahashi. There, he met and fell in love with Miko, Takahashi's daughter, but their love was torn apart when Takahashi forced her to give up their child for adoption. Now, with his memory failing, Kristófer sets out to find Miko, and upon reuniting, they rediscover the love that has been lost, amidst a poignant exploration of what might have been.
