A Simple Life

Roger Leung (Andy Lau), a middle-aged Hong Kong film producer, lives with Chung Chun-to (Deanie Ip), a devoted maidservant who has worked for his family for decades. Returning home after a business trip, Roger discovers Chung on the floor and calls for an ambulance. At the hospital, Roger learns that Chung has suffered a stroke but instead of asking for rehabilitation, she decides to retire and asks to be put in a nursing home. As Roger helps her move into the nursing home, they grow closer, and other members of his family visit her, leading to a poignant exploration of their relationships and the challenges of caring for the elderly.
