A former Marine, Terry Richmond (Aaron Pierre), cycles into Shelby Springs, Louisiana to bail out his cousin Mike Simmons and buy a work pickup truck, only to have his $36,000 in cash seized by corrupt police officers Evan Marston and Steve Lann via civil forfeiture. Terry soon teams up with Summer McBride (AnnaSophia Robb), the courthouse clerk's assistant, who helps him navigate the town's corrupt system and uncover the truth behind the seizure of his money. As Terry fights back against the corrupt police force, he is aided by Officer Jessica Sims (Zsané Jhé), but she turns out to be a rogue cop with her own agenda. The film builds towards an explosive confrontation between Terry, Summer, and the corrupt authorities, as they fight for justice and exposure in a small town dominated by power imbalances and abuse of authority.
