Poppie Nongena

Based on the true story of Elsa Joubert's novel Die swerfjare van Poppie Nongena, "Poppie Nongena" is a 2019 South African biographical drama film about an Afrikaans/Xhosa woman, Poppie Nongena, played by Clementine Mosimane, whose life is marked by turmoil in apartheid South Africa. When her husband Stone becomes ill and unable to work, Poppie is deemed illegal and faces challenges as a resident in her own country. The film stars Anna-Mart van der Merwe and Chris Gxalaba alongside Mosimane in the lead roles.
