Qissa: The Tale of a Lonely Ghost

In post-colonial India, Umber Singh (Irrfan Khan) is forced to flee his village due to ethnic cleansing at the time of partition in 1947. He builds a new home for his family and marries his youngest child Kanwar (Tillotama Shome) to Neeli (Rasika Dugal), a girl of lower caste. As individual ambitions and destinies collide, Umber's desire for a son creates tension within the family, ultimately leading to tragic consequences.
