A young man named John Brant is wrongly accused of murder and escapes from prison to track down the real killer. After narrowly escaping lawmen, he joins an outlaw gang, where he becomes embroiled in a cat-and-mouse game with his leader, who begins to suspect that Brant may not be the outlaw everyone thinks he is. As Brant navigates this treacherous world, he finds himself torn between loyalty to the gang and his quest for justice - all while keeping an eye on a pretty shopgirl whose life has become inextricably linked with his own.
