Phoebe-Rae Taylor stars as Melody Brooks, a sixth-grade student with cerebral palsy who is constantly underestimated by her classmates and teacher due to her non-verbal nature. With the help of Dr. Katherine Ray (Courtney Taylor) and her parents, Chuck (Luke Kirby) and Diane (Rosemarie DeWitt), Melody finds her voice through an electronic device and begins to participate in mainstream education. As she navigates her new surroundings, Melody proves that what she has to say is more important than how she says it, ultimately finding acceptance and belonging with the help of a classmate, Rose Spencer (Maria Nash).
