On the Double

Danny Kaye stars as Pfc. Ernie Williams and General Sir Lawrence MacKenzie-Smith in this 1961 comedy film about an American GI who impersonates a British colonel during World War II. After Ernie's real identity is compromised, he must navigate a series of comedic misadventures to uncover a Nazi infiltrator within the British Secret Service and facilitate the Allied invasion of France. Along the way, he falls in love with Lady Margaret MacKenzie-Smith (Dana Wynter).
