In 1999, best friends Eli (Jaeden Martell) and Danny join Laura (Rachel Zegler) at a New Year's Eve party, where they soon realize that all electrical devices have become autonomous and hostile after midnight. As the night spirals out of control, the group attempts to survive while trying to uncover the cause of the chaos and find a way to shut down the algorithm threatening humanity. Along the way, Eli and Laura must navigate their blossoming feelings for each other as they fight to stay alive against the machines, which include an evil robot that wreaks havoc on the partygoers.
