The Debut

The Debut is a coming-of-age comedy-drama film that follows Ben Mercado, a Filipino-American high school senior who enrolls in a prestigious arts institute to pursue his dreams of becoming an artist. However, his plans come into conflict with those of his strict immigrant father Roland, a postal worker intent on seeing Ben become a doctor. The eighteenth birthday party of Ben's sister Rose sets off a comedic and touching series of events that will determine young Ben's future, as he navigates the complexities of cultural heritage, family expectations, and identity.
