Under Western Stars

Roy Rogers stars as himself in this 1938 Western drama about a singing cowboy who runs for Congress to help small ranchers regain their water rights during the Dust Bowl of the 1930s. With the support of his friend and ally Eleanor Fairbanks (Carol Hughes), who owns her father's water company, Rogers must overcome opposition from greedy water company executives and ultimately helps pass a federal water bill. Smiley Burnette plays Frog, a musician and loyal friend to Roy Rogers, who helps him in his campaign and later assists him in preventing a group of desperate ranchers from blowing up the dam that controls the water supply.
