Across the River and Into the Trees

In post-WW2 Venice, Italy, American Army Col. Richard Cantwell (Liev Schreiber) faces his terminal illness with stoic indifference and enlists a military driver to visit his old haunts in Venice. A chance encounter with a remarkable young woman, Renata Contarini (Matilda De Angelis), begins to rekindle hope for the Colonel.
