Thierry Lhermitte stars as François Voisin, a humble civil servant who leads a double life as a top-secret agent. His wife Hélène (Miou-Miou) is unaware of his true identity, but soon finds herself caught up in a web of espionage and deceit when she begins an affair with a con artist posing as a spy, played by Michel Boujenah.
