"The Flamingo Kid" is a coming-of-age beach flick set in 1963 Brooklyn where 18-year-old Jeffrey (Matt Dillon) takes a summer job at a private beach club on Long Island, befriending smooth-talking Phil Brody (Richard Crenna), who becomes his mentor. Jeffrey's life is turned upside down as he navigates love, loyalty and growing up, ultimately learning that family should always come first.
