The War Lover

Capt. Buzz Rickson commands a B-17 bomber in Britain during World War II, leading his squadron under clouds and completing a mission despite orders to abort. He is known for his intuitive flying skills, but also antagonises everyone around him, including his co-pilot Lt. Ed Bolland, with whom he falls in love with Englishwoman Daphne Caldwell. As the crew's popularity increases, tensions rise, culminating in tragedy when Rickson crashes into the English coastline and kills "Junior", their ball turret gunner.
