In this 1934 Western thriller, John Wayne stars as Randy Bowers, a cowboy falsely accused of massacring a saloon full of patrons, except for a beautiful young woman named Sally Rogers (Alberta Vaughn). As he tries to clear his name and find the real culprits, Randy must outsmart the sheriff and the notorious outlaw Matt the Mute (George Hayes), whose true identity as Marvin Black remains hidden until it's too late. With its simple yet engaging plot and impressive stunts, Randy Rides Alone is a classic example of John Wayne's early film work and a precursor to his iconic Western hero persona.
