Janiyah Wiltkinson (Taraji P. Henson) is pushed to her breaking point by a devastatingly bad day that takes her from a single mother struggling to provide for her ill daughter Aria to extreme measures. After a series of events drive her to desperation, Janiyah finds herself in a shocking act of violence, sparking a cat-and-mouse game with law enforcement. As the situation unfolds, Detective Kay Raymond (Teyana Taylor) tries to establish a rapport with Janiyah, while the bank manager Nicole (Sherri Shepherd) attempts to calm her down and the public rallies outside demanding her release.
