Kill the Referee

In this 1984 thriller, a referee's whistle sparks a deadly game of cat and mouse between him and his pursuers, a group of violent football hooligans hell-bent on revenge. As the chase unfolds, the stakes rise and the body count grows, in a tense, suspenseful exploration of fanaticism and the darker side of sports fandom. Directed by Jean-Pierre Mocky from Alfred Draper's 1972 novel, the film won Best Original Idea at the 1984 Mystfest and has since become a cult classic.
