Mahjong

In 1996 Taipei, a complex web of lives intersecting amidst rapid urban change, swindlers, hustlers, gangsters, and expats collide, drawing in a naive French teenager and a sensitive local who becomes embroiled in the chaos. The film follows Winston Chen's disappearance and the underworld's pursuit of his son, which leads to a young woman named Marthe becoming entangled with a group of rough-around-the-edges characters at a nightclub called Hard Rock. As alliances are formed and broken, and fortunes rise and fall, the lines between loyalty, deception, and desire become increasingly blurred in this darkly comedic tale set against the vibrant backdrop of Taiwanese Taipei.
