Italian for Beginners

The film "Italian for Beginners" (2000) tells the stories of several lonely hearts in a Danish suburb who join a beginner's Italian class to meet the romance of their lives. Character Hal-Finn (Lars Kaalund), a hairdresser, tends to his disabled and abusive father, while Olympia (Anette Støvelbæk), a clumsy baker, joins the class to feel closer to her Italian mother. Meanwhile, Andreas (Anders W. Berthelsen), a widowed pastor, arrives in the suburb to take over religious duties, and Karen (Ann Eleonora Jørgensen), Olympia's estranged sister, begins a romantic affair with Hal-Finn.
