Pan's Labyrinth

In post-civil war Spain, 10-year-old Ofelia travels with her pregnant mother Carmen to meet Captain Vidal, her new stepfather, a Civil Guard officer tasked with hunting down the Spanish Maquis. There, she meets a faun who believes she is the reincarnation of Princess Moanna and sets her on a series of surreal and perilous tasks to complete in order for her to acquire immortality and return to her kingdom. With the help of several strange and magical creatures, Ofelia navigates the trials of an ancient stone labyrinth, where she encounters the Pale Man, a child-eating monster, and must confront the harsh reality of her world.
