Living Proof

In 1988, Dr. Dennis Slamon, a physician scientist at UCLA Medical Center in Los Angeles, develops an experimental breast cancer treatment that could potentially cure the disease without radiation or chemotherapy. He faces financial struggles, but with the help of philanthropists Lilly Tartikoff and Ronald Perelman, he continues his research. The breakthrough leads to Herceptin, which undergoes trials before gaining FDA approval, ultimately changing the course of breast cancer treatment.
