Daniel Craig plays detective Benoit Blanc as he investigates the death of a Catholic priest in an upstate New York parish led by eccentric Monsignor Jefferson Wicks (Josh Brolin). The main suspect is young priest Fr. Jud Duplenticy (Josh O'Connor), who had previously clashed with Wicks over his incendiary preaching, but Blanc convinces him to assist in the investigation.
