Kate, played by Hallee Hirsh, is a bookish 16-year-old who plays match-maker for her friends as she navigates her own moral dilemma of never having been kissed on her birthday. She finds herself at odds with the omniscient narrator, interrupting him to add her point of view, setting the tone for a comedic and romantic quest for love and understanding.
