The Idol

Mohammed Assaf, a young refugee singer from Gaza, sets out to compete in the seemingly impossible Arab Idol singing competition, driven by his desire to raise enough money to purchase a kidney transplant for his sister who died of kidney failure seven years earlier. The film follows Mohammed's journey as he faces numerous obstacles, including travel restrictions and bureaucratic red tape, before finally being allowed to audition for the show. With the support of his family and his own determination, Mohammed proves himself to be a talented singer, earning the admiration of Palestinians everywhere and inspiring hope and optimism in the process.
