The Chronology of Water

Lidia Yuknavitch (Imogen Poots) develops a passion for writing and swimming at a young age as a reprieve from her abusive home life, where her father Mike physically and sexually abuses her. She meets Philip (Earl Cave), whom she marries despite a problematic relationship, but their marriage is later marked by divorce after the stillbirth of their daughter. Reconciling with Philip, Lidia finds solace in writing and studying under Ken Kesey (Jim Belushi), who connects with her grief due to his own loss. She eventually begins teaching creative writing and starts anew with her third husband, Andy (Charlie Carrick), while coming to terms with the trauma of her past.
