The World's Greatest Sinner

A bored insurance salesman, Clarence Hilliard (Timothy Carey), quits his job to pursue a career in politics and starts preaching about the potential for human immortality, eventually forming his own cult known as the Eternal Man's Party, which attracts a devoted following of followers who call him "God." As he rises to power, Clarence faces consequences from the real God of the Bible and alienates his family and friends with his increasing egomania. His family and followers warn him about the dangers of dictator-like behavior, but he continues down a path of self-aggrandizement, seducing elderly widows for funding and forming a rockabilly band to further his cause. Eventually, Clarence's emotional crisis forces him to confront the possibility that he is not "mightier than man" after all.
