The Steamie

The Steamie (1988) is a comedy about a group of Glasgow women who meet at The Steamie to do their traditional family wash before the New Year, sharing laughter and gossip while getting a job done. Dorothy Paul stars as Magrit, the irrepressible leader of the group, alongside an all-star cast including Eileen McCallum as Dolly and Sheila McDonald as Mrs Culfeathers. A young Peter Mullan plays Andy, the whisky-loving handy man.
