Dodo Delwyn (Red Skelton) is a famous clown struggling with his drinking problem. His son Dink (Tim Considine) idolizes him and tries to help, but their relationship is put to the test when Dodo's agent, Goldie, fails to secure new bookings for him. After a series of mishaps and setbacks, Dodo finds success on a TV show, but ultimately collapses and dies during a broadcast performance.
